Another night of heavy snow and wintry conditions in the north of Scotland is causing problems on the roads and forcing school closures.
About 180 schools across the north east and the Northern Isles have said they will not open on Thursday.
In the Highlands more than 29 will remain closed.
Grampian Police and Northern Constabulary have warned that many routes are blocked or are not advised. Inverness Airport is currently closed.
The Stonehaven area has been singled out as particularly bad, with the A92 Stonehaven to Montrose road closed due to drifting snow.
Some drivers had to call the emergency services when their cars got stuck, but police said they were all released quickly.
The A957 Stonehaven to Crathes road is closed, while the A975 Cruden Bay to Newburgh is almost impassable due to drifting snow.
The A939 Cockbridge to Tomintoul and Corgraff to Gairshiel roads remain closed and the A96 Fochabers to Lhanbryde road is covered in hard packed ice and snow.
The A97 is down to a single lane between Huntly and Rhynie, and travel is not advised.
The A9 south is passable with care although it is badly affected at Daviot and Drumochter.
A number of articulated lorries were struggling to leave Inverness and could not move until gritters cleared the road.
Both Highland Constabulary and Grampian Police urged motorists only to travel if necessary.
A spokesman for the Grampian force said: "Some motorists are failing to heed the warnings given by both the police and the media and are finding themselves driving in conditions that they are unable to cope with."
